  1. Glad to hear there was more to his song. Was disturbed by the lyrics at first, before learning there was more to the meaning. It is great that he has wrote positive books for young children. Young children's minds are like sponges, something they hear when they are young may influence their decisions throughout their life.

  3. Definitely came out of nowhere with that Fuck 'em song. Not what I was expecting from this author. The powerpoint was pretty well made with some interactive sounds to get our attention. Carmen spoke with a little more confidence than Naomi when presenting information. However it was all presented clearly and concise.

  5. i was so shocked about the song it did set me back in my seat, but after you gave more detail about the song in general it really made me understand why you added the song in there. I like that you related how he can influence you people in culture but also those who are eccentric. I like that you both gave out a piece from his own writing that really showed acceptance of who they are and there imagination. Overall you guys had good humor with the presentation. I liked the laughter and the eye catching presentation. Good job!

  6. I like that you guys included the lyrics from the song. I never knew that he wrote songs so to here that was new information. I thought that the song showed who he was and how his humor is. Personally I think that Carmen talked over Naomi a few times. Your powerpoint and handout had a few spelling mistakes but nothing major. Overall I think you guys had a lot of great information and you were confident with what you were speaking about.

  7. It was nice to see both sides of him, one where he is making positive influences on kids through his writing and another side as to how he felt with the song. I would've liked to know other books that he has wrote and how those are also beneficial to children!

  8. Both of you did an amazing job on explaining his message of his stories and what they mean to readers. I learned a lot more about him from this presentation, from his song writing to his inspiration.

I will say that the part where you used his song needed more context to help drive the message and draw a more clear picture. But everything else was spot on. Excellent work.

  9. Before your presentation Shel Silverstein was not an important or impactful name to me. However by the end of your presentation I realized just how much of an influence he is and the impact he has. His influence was clearly stated with the songs, poems, and drawings. On the flip side the song choice I feel should have been looked into a little more to find the meaning of it rather than just a select portion. The comparison was good with Al Capp as
    well.

  10. It was really hard for me to believe that he had written the song that you showed us. It was not the person I saw in his books at all. I liked how you pointed out he does more than just writing, because I always thought it was just his books. I loved how your power point didn't have a whole lo of words on it, but mostly pictures, and that really helped me follow along with what you were saying. Each slide was it's own topic. I did feel like there were some gaps in between your talking where it was uncertain of who was supposed to be speaking next.

  11. I liked how you two gave us information on himself as a person and as a children book/song/lyric writer. You two did a good job on showing how he is a good influence. The song was not what I was expecting. I first though it was going to be about him telling people to back but then I took a look at the lyrics.
However, I would have liked to know more about how he got into song/lyric writing.

  12. I would have to say something that was well done was the way you guys explained what some of his writing means. I didn't know much about Shel before this, but it was clear who he was and the type of work he does.

One thing that could have strengthened the presentation would be if the meaning of the song was explained more, or how he felt about the song.

You guys did a great job!
